 What is tallow?

The process of rendering beef fat begins with the collection of suet, the dense fatty tissue that encases the kidneys of cattle. Suet is known to contain a high concentration of essential vitamins and minerals, making it a valuable ingredient in many ways.
Once this suet is collected, it is carefully trimmed of any impurities or connective tissue, leaving behind only the purest fat. The fat is then cut into small pieces and slowly heated over low heat, allowing it to melt and release its liquid gold essence. As the fat melts, it is gently stirred to ensure even heating and prevent scorching. The rendering process can take several hours, depending on the amount of fat being rendered.
Once fully melted, the liquid fat is carefully strained through a fine mesh sieve to remove any solid pieces or impurities. This process is repeated multiple times to ensure the purest possible rendering of the fat, free of any beef-like aroma.

Tallow is a natural and nutrient-rich ingredient that has been used for centuries to promote healthy skin. It has a long list of benefits that make it an excellent choice for skincare products, especially for those with sensitive or dry skin.

Tallow is temperature sensitive, and has a melting point of about 95 degrees fahrenheit. Due to the rising temperatures, we recommend tracking your package and bringing it inside as soon as possible to prevent melting of the product. In the case it does melt, bring it into a cool place and let sit to re-solidify. Whipped tallow balms will not return to their original whipped state, but can be re-whipped with a hand mixer if wanted. If you are concerned about melting, try to order your tallow balms when the temperatures are mild, or try to find us in person!
